直腸刺激って何なんだろうと気になって元論文を調べたら"digital rectal massage"とあり、どうやら指だったらしい。

イグノーベル賞の対象になった論文の症例では、経鼻胃管*1がしゃっくりの誘引になっていたのに、逆に鼻咽頭や口蓋垂を刺激すると楽になることもあるという話。
